From 3d geomodelling systems towards 3d geoscience information systems: Data model, query functionality, and data management
نویسنده
چکیده
Two-dimensional GIS are extensively used in geology to create, analyse, and interpret geological map models. However, these systems are unable to represent the Earth’s subsurface in three spatial dimensions. The objective of this article is to overcome this deficiency and to provide a general framework for a 3d GIS. The presented approach is based on existing 3d geomodelling theory and software, and is characterized by an integrated data model for geological observation data and geomodels, data management supported by an XMLenabled database server, and functionality for querying observation data and 3d geomodels based on their 3d spatial and geological properties. The resulting 3d GIS framework enables geologists to manipulate, analyse and interpret 3d geomodels analogously as they work with 2d geological maps. r 2005 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information
With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...

متن کامل3D Scene and Object Classification Based on Information Complexity of Depth Data
In this paper the problem of 3D scene and object classification from depth data is addressed. In contrast to high-dimensional feature-based representation, the depth data is described in a low dimensional space. In order to remedy the curse of dimensionality problem, the depth data is described by a sparse model over a learned dictionary. Exploiting the algorithmic information theory, a new def...
متن کاملTowards a 3d Spatial Query Language for Building Information Models
The paper introduces the concept of a spatial query language for building information models (BIMs) and motivates its development. It provides formal definitions using point set theory and point set topology for 3D spatial data types as well as the directional, topological, metric and Boolean operators employed with these types. It also serves to outline the implementation of 3D spatial query p...
متن کاملSimulation of Smoke Emission from Fires in High-Rise Buildings Using the 3D Model Generated from 2-Dimensional Cadastral Data
Having a 3-Dimensional model of high-rise buildings can be used in disaster management such as fire cases to reduce casualties. The fundamental dilemma in 3D building modeling is the unavailability of suitable data sources. However, available cadastral 2D maps could be used as low-cost and attainable resources for 3D building modeling. Smoke will be a great threat to people's health during a f...
